A string quartet Battle of the Bands! Two great ensembles, one established and one emerging, share an informal evening of music written by composers they have each worked with personally. The American String Quartet has been a dedicated champion of contemporary music for its entire 37-year history, having commissioned, premiered, and in many cases recorded, works by such distinguished composers as Claus Adam, Richard Danielpour, Tobias Picker and George Tsontakis. The exciting young Aeolus Quartet recently released the CD Many Sided Music featuring an eclectic range of new music, much of it inspired by American folk music traditions. Members of both quartets will share their insights and enthusiasm for the music they have 'birthed' and championed.
