Quartet-in-residence at the renowned Cleveland Institute of Music since 1988 and winner of numerous accolades, including the Naumburg Award, the Cleveland Quartet Award and the Banff, Fishoff and Coleman Competitions, the Cavani Quartet has been hailed as passionate and inspiring ambassadors for chamber music.  Concert appearances include Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall in New York, the Corcoran Gallery of Art and Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the Ambassador Series in Los Angeles, and numerous major venues abroad.   The Cavani has collaborated with such distinguished artists as Denyce Graves, Alisa Weilerstein, Itzhak Perlman and members of the Juilliard, Emerson and Cleveland Quartets.

The Cavani Quartet has maintained a decades-long commitment to innovative and compelling programming and to sharing its passion for chamber music with audiences of all ages and all walks of life.  A dynamic leader in the field of Arts in Education, the Quartet has received no fewer than ten Chamber Music America Residency Partnership Grants, including one for serving as Master Quartet in Residence with the Chamber Music Society of Detroit in 2014-15.

Celino Romero has toured worldwide for over two decades as a third generation member of the famed “Royal Family of the Guitar,” Los Romeros, and appears internationally as a soloist in recital and with orchestras.

The all-Italian first half of the program includes the ravishing Largo from Vivaldi’s famous D major Concerto; the Cavani finishes with one of the pillars of the repertoire, Schubert’s Death and the Maiden, in its Signature Series debut.

“A new generation of players recognizing spiritual and colouristic potentialities once practiced by bygone exponents… passionate and interesting… an accomplished example of craftmanship and wonderfully communicative.”
