Interactive Learning Packages (ILP)

Interactive Learning Packages (ILP) is a new online music education resource developed by the Chamber Music Society of Detroit to enhance, expand, and sustain the educational impact of in‐school visiting artist programming. Together with partners at New York University and Oakland University, the CMSD has developed an interactive online platform for elementary school‐age students to learn, create, explore, and “play along” with musicians visiting their schools. Modules before and after the program are made available to students and teachers via a custom website that can be accessed anytime, in or out of school, extending the learning impact to a period far longer than a single artist visit.

The Chamber Music Society successfully piloted the program during the 2015-16 season, and is expanding programming with two ensemble residencies in the spring of 2017, a string quartet and a jazz quartet.

Below is an image of  the the landing page of the ILP web site for the Aeolus Quartet. Clickable buttons invite students to explore and learn more about the visiting artists and their music. (Please note that the links on the images below are not live.)

Students have the opportunity to learn about sound and space in fun, interactive online activities such as the one below, in which they are invited to move the musicians to different parts of the stage and see what happens.
