Listen @ The Library
A Partnership with the Novi Public Library
An innovative new partnership, the Chamber Music Society of Detroit, Novi Public Library, Nordstrom and PNC present Listen @ The Library - a series of free family concerts performed by internationally acclaimed artists in the heart of the Novi community. These performances are informal and interactive, introducing audiences to chamber music in an entertaining and engaging way and providing an opportunity to meet and speak with the artists.

Piano Showcase
Performances of music by Haydn and Schumann by pianists Hee Jung Yoo from Michigan State University and Michal Harris from the University of Michigan. Ms. Yoo and Ms. Harris were among the young pianists selected to participate in a master class given on Friday, December 14 by a legendary pianist and teacher, Menahem Pressler. Yamaha grand piano provided by Evola Music.

Aeolus String Quartet
Since its founding in 2008, the Aeolus String Quartet has won prizes in nearly every major chamber music competition in the U.S. Most recently it took home the 2012 John Lad prize in recognition of its “high level of musicianship....the passion, the dedication, and the great generosity of spirit they have demonstrated.” This exciting young ensemble will be in town for two weeks visiting schools and presenting a student concert webcast as part of the Chamber Music Society’s education program.

Piffaro: The Renaissance Band
Piffaro re-creates the rustic music of the peasantry as well as the elegant sounds of the official, professional wind bands of the late Medieval and Renaissance periods. Their performances bring “zest and allure to everything, whether they are sending streams of air through penetrating shawm, mellow sackbuts, beguiling bagpipes or delicate recorders.....They evoke the period in all its exuberance, charm and spiritual depth.” (Cleveland Plain-Dealer)

Instrument Petting Zoo
